Bob and Dorcas Jenkins have been married since 1974. Bob grew up in Weatherford, Texas. In his early days, he and his father, Harold Jenkins, raised and showed Shetland ponies and quarter horses. In those days, Bob was a recognized show judge of Shetlands. Bob's father was the first Pontiac dealer in Texas, and his grandfather, D. Jenkins, was known throughout the southwest as one of the true western cattle- and horsemen. Bob's grandfather was also the importer of some of the first Black Angus cattle to this country.
Bob is President of B. D. Resources, Inc., a Texas-based, family owned corporation. He has worn many different hats during his colorful career as a businessman, in higher education, as president of a local chamber of commerce, teacher, coach and author. Jenkins has been president and taken leadership roles in three different professional associations. He was most recently listed in Who's Who in the United States for Business Executives. Bob is a past chairman of the Marketing Committee and a former Director of the AMHA.
Dorcas grew up traveling and living in many different locations around the United States. Her late father was a retired colonel in the U. S. Air Force. Her mother and sister live in Lubbock, Texas. Her brother and his family live in Georgia. Dorcas was an elementary school teacher for 30 years, most recently as a fourth-grade teacher in the Austin Independent School District. She is a past president of the Hays County Texas A&M University Mothers Club, and enjoys reading, traveling, doing crafts and crosstitching. Dorcas currently shows at the amateur level in halter and driving.
